Always community-focused, Social Status is giving back with a paid launch as the back-to-school shopping season approaches.
Social Status – one of the banners of James Whitner’s The Whitaker Group retail empire – will deliver its Nike Air Max Penny 1 “Recess” collaboration on July 22 via Socialstatuspgh.com. With the drop, not only will social status allow consumers to try and get a pair, but they will also be able to enter the information of a person in need, an organization that provides back-to-school support to families – or both – that they would like to donate a pair to.
The reason for this paid launch, according to Social Status, is to “highlight the pressures on parents and families in need ahead of the return to school in these exceptionally difficult times”.
“I remember Christmas and back to school being the worst times of the year, having nothing, with the excitement hoping for something new but nothing to come. It is a demoralizing feeling, especially as the effects of the economic climate are beginning to deeply affect families at a time when the needs are already dire,” James Whitner, owner and founder of The Whitaker Group, said in a statement. “We have all seen the statistics and understand the pressures of back to school on households. We cannot sit idly by when we know the collective power of community as an agent of change. It’s less about sneakers. It’s about allowing that community to come forward and help those most at risk at a time when it can help them focus on what matters most: their education.
Social status also offers consumers who do not have a person or organization in mind the opportunity to have The Whitaker Project, which is the non-profit arm of The Whitaker Group, select an organization to support.
The paid launch of the Social Status x Nike Air Max Penny 1 “Recess” in “Black” and “Desert Sand” colorways arrives July 22 at 9 a.m. ET.
