LOS ANGELES, June 7 — How do you encourage users to create content and allow them to do so as quickly and easily as possible? The battle to retain users and attract new ones continues to rage on social media. Meta, Twitter, and Pinterest have all announced new options to make their tools even easier to use. We take stock.

More Tools to Make Creating Reels Easier

Meta is continually refining its latest tool, Reels. While the format was initially designed to be used on smartphones, it is now also available on computers. Users can now “create, edit and post Facebook Reels from [their] web browser through Creator Studio,” explained Meta. They can even schedule the publication of Reels on Facebook.

The “edit” mode of Reels has also been rolled out for desktop users. Creators will be able to cut their long-form video into reels and even create 60-second clips from their live-streamed content. A tool specially designed for gamers who broadcast their content live. The generated reel will simultaneously display the gameplay and the player.

Meanwhile, features like voiceovers, Sound Sync, which automatically syncs videos and songs, and synthesized voices, which turns written text into audio, have finally arrived on Facebook Reels.

Meta has even added new metrics to improve the user experience for creators and allow them to analyze their content accurately. Reach, minutes viewed, average watch time… These types of data are now available for review in Creator Studio.

On Instagram, the Reels also continue to evolve. Video length has now been increased to 90 seconds and “poll”, “quiz” and “emoji” stickers can now be used in Reels.

As for options, Meta allows users to import their own audio to your Reel, for at least five seconds. And Instagram had a bright idea with its “inspired models” option. No need to spend time looking for the right musical extract and choosing the right duration for each photo to display to reproduce the trend of the moment. Now, a user will be able to press “Use Template” to import audio and clip sequence from video and thus reproduce the structure much more easily and quickly, modifying the content later. A great advantage that could certainly encourage the creation of new content on the social network.

Quickly see communities on Twitter

The “Communities” option might not be the most popular yet, but Twitter is still working on its functionality. This mode was created to facilitate exchanges on subjects corresponding to the interests of users. Users will be able to view the feed of their Twitter communities in two ways. The first will offer the latest tweets while the second will offer a feed based on the user’s preferences, thanks to the algorithm, via the “For You” feed, which is not unlike the TikTok feed, also called the “For You”. page. Just like Meta, Twitter constantly draws inspiration from TikTok to boost its platform.

A strategy that could also boost content creation and increase the time users spend on the social network if the algorithm proves useful. But that’s not necessarily a done deal given the critical comments from many Twitter users about the adequacy of Twitter’s algorithm.

As online shopping explodes, Pinterest wants to remain a pioneer in this area. To do this, the social network has equipped itself with THE YES shopping platform, which analyzes user preferences to offer them the products that suit them best.

To create its algorithm, THE YES relies on quizzes that help to better understand the tastes and research needs of users by asking them to answer yes or no to photos of products from different brands. A process that allows the platform to generate targeted proposals more suited to the profile. According to Social Media Today, the deal is expected to close by the end of June. — Studio ETX
