A dealer selling an antibody under the brand name Sinder said the drug was imported from China. Meanwhile, the Animal Health Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has confirmed that Sinder’s duckbill antibodies sold in the market are contraband and have not been quality checked.

Many people have been selling products such as the Chinese-made E.coli vaccine, a polio treatment drug to treat pet diseases on social media and e-commerce platforms. Even a Facebook account with more than 23,500 members goes by the name “Veterinary Drugs – Vaccines are Sold Nationwide” and specializes in providing crude veterinary drugs, vaccines and antibiotics. The owner of the Facebook account announced that vaccines and medicines are imported from Thailand, India and China.

Another Facebook account named Pham Kim Anh in the northern province of Thuan Thanh district in Bac Ninh has continuously posted wholesale and retail advertisements for many vaccines from China since the beginning of 2022.

Previously, in August 2021, the Market Supervision Directorate of Bac Ninh Province fined the facebooker VND 26 million and suspended her from the exercise for two months because she did not was not registered to set up a home business and market vaccines and veterinary drugs, including Sinder’s Beaked Duck. In many localities, for some years, some individuals have even sold fake vaccines and veterinary drugs, causing damage to breeders.

In his document addressed to the local people’s committees, the Vice-Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien called for strengthening inspection and control at border posts, paths and openings in order to detect quickly and to strictly deal with cases of transport and trade of smuggled veterinary drugs and vaccines, of unknown origin and whose circulation is not yet authorized in Vietnam.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has also instructed the Standing Bureau of the National Steering Committee 389 to promptly detect and rigorously deal with cases of transport and trade in imported veterinary drugs and vaccines of unknown origin and types not homologated.

Last but not least, the ministry demanded the revocation of licenses and announced the identity of offending companies and products in the media. In addition, Mr. Tien offered to transfer the records of individuals and organizations that trade contraband goods in large quantities or cause serious consequences to the investigative police department for investigation.
