Center for Inclusion and Social Change will be hosted at Student Affairs | CU Boulder today

Provost Russell Moore announced today that the Center for Inclusion and Social Change (CISC), currently housed in the Office of Diversity, Equity and Community Engagement (ODECE), will be relocating to the Student Affairs Division effective January 1, 2023.

“This move will place the CISC team in a closer partnership with extracurricular experts and student affairs partners, a move that will amplify the impact of CISC’s campus-wide efforts,” said Moore.

Moore said the offices of the CICA—Education and Social Change; First-generation programs and enrichment; intercultural engagement; and the Pride Office, along with CISC’s signature events, will benefit from the ability “to co-plan with student affairs experts in similar fields and provide more holistic support to students.”

“ICCA team members will continue their great work in providing high-impact, transformational community building and educational programs to the CU Boulder community,” said Austin “JB” Banks, Acting Vice Chancellor for student affairs. “This closer alignment of the CICA within student affairs will benefit our student body and our efforts to improve the student experience at CU Boulder.”

Chris Pacheco, acting vice-president and associate vice-chancellor for diversity, equity and inclusion, who leads ODECE, also declared his support for the decision.

“ODECE is grateful to have had CISC on its team for the past few years, and we recognize the value of CISC returning to student affairs. ODECE will continue to support our colleagues at CISC by providing a strategic partnership that benefits our communities and the campus as a whole. »
